Board Election Procedure

The District holds its election cycle consolidated with the General election cycle in even numbered years (2020, 2022, 2024, 2026, etc.). This keeps the costs of elections low and is more convenient for voters. In 2023, MWSD switched from At Large to by Division elections.

Each Board Member is elected by Division, for a 4-year term in even numbered years. Elections for Divisions 2 and 4 occurred in 2024 ; Divisions 1, 3, and 5 will occur in 2026.

Candidates for the District Board must be registered voters and must reside within the boundary of the Montara Water & Sanitary District Electoral Division for which they are seeking office.

The County Elections Office is the Election Officer for the District and conducts the election. Nomination papers may be obtained from and election questions directed to:
